London Dance Company Code Of Conduct

  • Parents are not permitted to watch classes except in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the class teacher. Such circumstances should be discussed with the class teacher prior to the class. 

 

  • Students are expected to demonstrate respectful behaviour towards their teacher and fellow students both inside and outside of the studio.

 

  • Students are not permitted to bring food into the dance studio or chew gum whilst in class. A bottle of water is allowed. 

 

  • Students are responsible for their own property and bring items at their own risk.

 

  • Students are not permitted to use mobile phones during a class. Any mobile phones brought into the class must be switched off.

 

  • Students are not permitted to leave the studio during a class without permission from the class teacher.

 

  • Students are expected to wear correct uniform for all classes including correctly having tied up hair.

 

  • Students who arrive 10 minutes after the scheduled class time are welcome to observe the class; however, they will not be permitted to participate unless there is an extenuating circumstance. 

 

  • If students need to leave before the end of the class, they should notify the teacher before class begins.

 

  • As employees of THE LONDON DANCE COMPANY, teachers have the responsibility to see that their class is under control, and they have the authority to dismiss or sit out any student who will not cooperate and is a disruption to the rest of the class. 

 

  • No jewellery is allowed for safety reasons. Necklaces can break. Rings can fly off. Earring backs fall.

 

  • No Baggy Hoodies during class. Comp jackets may be worn only until your muscles are warm. Cover-ups must be worn to and from class.

 

  • DO NOT wear dance shoes outside.

 

  • Good sportsmanship is mandatory at all times. Especially when at competitions or external events. Respect must be shown to each and every individual, teacher, parent, dancer and so on.

  • Social media platforms - you are to be respectful and positive towards other dancers and TLDC's staff and classes, this should be a safe place to share work and learn from other dancers. Virtual insults and bullying will not be tolerated and will lead to instant suspension. The length of time to be decided by The London Dance Company. 

 

Parents Responsibilities

 

  • To make sure all contact details are up to date by completing the registration form before you enrol with the school. Please provide several contact numbers in the unlikely case of an accident.

 

  • If a student is required to take medication whilst participating in TLDC dance activities, parents/carers should take full responsibility and ensure teaching staff are properly informed.

 

  • It is important for parents and students to understand in most cases, the class will progress as a group but not all the time. Every child will be challenged in each class to compete against themselves not others.

 

  • To make sure the student attends class with correct and acceptable clothing. Hair is to be of an appropriate style for the class, a classical ballet bun is expected in all classes for Elite members. Children will not be allowed to dance with their hair down, with incorrect uniform or inappropriate footwear.

 

  • Please ensure that all children are collected on time at the end of their class by a parent or carer. Please notify the teacher at the start of the class if someone else will be collecting your child. If you are going to be late the child will remain in the studio with the teacher until you arrive.

 

  • Please ensure our staff are aware of any medical conditions and any learning difficulties that may need special attention.

 

  • Please sign in with the teacher or receptionist at your location so we can take note of attendance.

 

  • The London Dance Company requires 5 weeks notice if you are withdrawing your child’s place from the school, this can be done via a phone call or a written email. Please do not tell the teacher as we have to formerly remove your data from our data base that the teacher does not have access to.

 

  • Any grievances with The London Dance Company should be addressed on the day with management. Parents are expected to communicate and discuss and issues with all staff in a calm manner to aid the situation being resolved. The same respect will always be shown in return.

 

  • When asked for availability parents are asked to inform the company at their earliest convenience. Should you not inform the company within the deadline given you there withdraw your child from the event/ competition. No exceptions can be made once a deadline is missed. Meeting deadlines is a vital skill we try to teach all students and parents support is greatly appreciated.  

We aim to create a safe and encouraging learning environment for all our students. Our code of Conduct is in place to ensure we are able to do this. Breaches of the code of conduct may lead to suspension or termination of your contract/ access to classes. The London Dance Company reserves the right to refuse entry to any person. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions regarding suspension and termination.
